Your mental health matters too!

Ty Fischer is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the founder of Talk to Ty Therapy. He grew up in DeWitt, Iowa, and carries those Midwestern roots with him in the way he shows up for clients—grounded, genuine, and focused on connection. Ty earned his undergraduate degree in Health and Human Physiology from the University of Iowa in 2021, and later completed his Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Regis University in Denver, Colorado in 2024.

Ty is a fully licensed marriage and family therapist in both Iowa and Colorado. He began his clinical work as a school-based therapist with Denver Public Schools, where he supported students in navigating emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. He later worked in an agency setting in Colorado, providing therapy to individuals of all ages, children, and families. Across settings, Ty has remained passionate about helping people feel understood, supported, and capable of meaningful change in their lives.

Ty currently lives in Denver but is planning to move back to the Iowa City area to be closer to family and friends, which continues to be an important part of his life and values.

In his work, Ty draws from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Family Systems Theory, Solution-Focused Therapy, Existential Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Play Therapy. He also incorporates Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), tailoring his approach to meet each person where they are.

Outside of the therapy room, Ty enjoys spending time with his dog Milo, being with friends and family, and staying active. You can often find him golfing, exercising, practicing yoga, or exploring new places.
